Plane Crash In New York!

Not exactly flooring news but very relevant news. The plane crash was caused by a flock of birds.
A US Airways plane crashed into the Hudson River Toady at aprox 4:30 today.1/15/2009

The pilot is being called a true hero.All 155 survived the plane crash!
Passenger were employees of Bank of America In Charlotte NC.

Jet Going To Charlotte Lands In New York Harbor

NEW YORK - A US Airways jet leaving LaGuardia airport in bound for Charlotte crash-landed in the icy waters of the New York harbor after a flock of birds reportedly knocked both of the engines.

The New York City government said that the plane "was forced to land on the Hudson River in Manhattan" and the crash happened at around 3:26pm this afternoon, Thursday, January 15th.

The USAirways Flight 1549 was flying from New York to Charlotte, when landed in the river. The airplane was an Airbus A320, which has two engines. According to media reports, all 150 people were uninjured and were able to be rescued by boat.

"There are no reported fatalities at this time," said the New York City Government in a statement. "The Office of Emergency Management is currently in the process of accounting for the 146 passengers and 5 crew members."

"It would appear the pilot did a masterful job of landing in the river and making sure everybody got out," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a news conference that was broadcast on news channels. "I had a long conversation with the pilot, he walked the plane twice [before leaving.]"

According to ABC News, the pilot was named as Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III, a veteran pilot.

In a statement to the media this afternoon, US Senator Kay Hagan from North Carolina said she was thinking about those on board.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the 151 people aboard the US Airways plane and their loved ones," said Hagan. "This is a terrible event and I pray that the rescue efforts currently underway at this moment are as successful and thorough as possible."

The City of New York says that a family assistance center has been set up at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 104-04 Ditmars Plaza, in Queens, New York City.

In addition, family members of those on board the flight can contact the US Airways hotline for information at 1-800-679-8215.

I had a long discussion with my people concerning the Map pricing schedules some companies are setting. They are getting more bold and requiring more constraints as they see fit. The complaints are coming from the box stores and retailers with little vision of the future that are driving this.
I have told my contacts, the flooring mills sold out when started selling at lower prices to the box stores. They sold the retailers right to sell floors right out from under them, it is brutal out there. I hope they see the light.

We have seen so many new Konecto dealers pop up we did some checking. and we found the new kid of the block R & R Products is actually Internet Floors, I do not understand why these guys work so hard to hide thier true identity. We are proud of who we are and hope to serve, you ,the customer diligently.

In Flooring news:
As many of you know the nations largest online retailer of flooring Ifloor.com filed for protection under Banckruptcy Chp 11.
We feel this was due to flooring being sold that was of lesser quality than most Amercian flooring companies are willing to produce. and thier agreement with CornerHardware.com, an online retailer of home improvement goods they purchased in 2007.
The current economy certainly had it's part in this grave matter as well.
Our hearts go out to the families affected by this as we learned no severance pay will be granted to any one laid off.
It is sad to think that any children may suffer or miss out out on the Christmas thiers parents may have planned
